General Function:
Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator for Early Ready, Set, Go!, (e’RSG) the Program Associate is responsible for providing direct support to the day-to-day operations of the eRSG Program at Earl Boyles Elementary School. The e’RSG Program Associate will support the Parent Child Interaction Groups (PCIG’s) including lesson planning, coordinate volunteers, and build trusting relationships with program participants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the e’RSG Program Coordinator to keep the program on schedule, within grantee requirements
- Works closely with the Program Coordinator to develop monthly planning for all activities including Parent-child Interaction groups, and parenting groups (virtually and in person)
- Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate lesson plans using Creative Curriculum; the Reggio Emilia approach; classroom observations and data from various screenings and assessment tools.
- Coordinates and supports workshops, program meetings, training and events such as field trips, contact guest speakers, creating calendar requests for such events.
- Support all needs for the Parent-Child Interaction group (PCIG) activities, projects, and meals both in the classroom and outside including set up and clean up.
- Help to establish and maintain a positive classroom climate by ensuring all adults in the classroom understand and practice positive behavior management, utilizing the MPAP framework.
- Promote a classroom and site atmosphere that reinforces meaningful involvement of families and volunteers, e.g. reading, leading an activity, introducing family culture;
- Support the role of families as the first and primary teachers of their children and assist families in understanding child development and positive parenting techniques.
- Create PowerPoint and/or Canva presentations to use during class delivery.
- Schedule Zoom meetings, support, and manage Zoom meetings for Parent & Child Interaction Group and parent groups
- Support purchasing needs for e’RSG programming with MFS provided funding as needed.
- Maintain a high-quality preschool environment to the Early Ready, Set, Go! Program standards
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect children, staff, equipment, and class materials,
- Support e’RSG Program Coordinator creating a monthly planning meal menu
- Clean, sanitize, and organize educational materials for PCIG
- Update inventory program supplies (tracking of broken/lost equipment and materials, and submits request to e’RSG Program Coordinator for purchasing)
- Support ongoing collaboration with community partners based in Earl Boyles and Cherry Park Elementary Schools
- Support ongoing collaboration with Organizations in Multnomah County
- Works closely with the e’RSG Family Recruitment and Resource Coordinator to refer families to partners and other agencies as appropriate
- Support recruitment and training of volunteers
- Attend regularly occurring supervision meetings with Program Coordinator, Program Staff, and Agency
- Organize and maintain program/families’ files and documentation and ensuring these files remain up to date
- Works closely with e’RSG Program Coordinator to apply children screenings (ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE), and Get Ready to Read curriculum.
- Supports and manages program evaluation surveys
- Works closely with e’RSG Program Coordinator to maintain up-to-date data entry into the agency database, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO)
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Training and a minimum of 2 years of experience in social services, parent education, and social service program development
- Ability to read, write and speak fluently in language(s) in addition to English is preferred. Language(s) preferred are Cantonese, Spanish, Vietnamese
- Ability to provide strength-based resource and referral services to families
- Experience working in a public-school setting and/or with the early learning community
- Ability to recognize and manage critical situations including following mandatory reporting regulations and responsibilities
- Model expected behavior for children and adults guided by appropriate child development
- Ability and commitment to continuous quality improvements and innovation
- Ability to understand and execute eRSG philosophy in day to day duties
- Experience working in collaboration with a variety of agencies and programs
- Ability to work independently and to collaborate with a team

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Certification, an Associate degree, or higher education degree in Early Childhood Education or minimum of 2 years of classroom experience in Early Childhood Education (ages preferred 0-3) or related and equivalent experience
Other Requirements:
Personal transportation allowing for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area in a timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle must maintain a valid driver’s license for the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance coverage and a driving record permitting coverage under the agency auto liability policy.

Work Environment:
Due to COVID-19 issues, some work may be performed remotely and this position will also be working in classrooms with families and students as required.
Generally, work is performed in an office environment, at community events, and/or at other locations as deemed necessary. May require occasional early morning, weekend or evening work. Position requires the ability to sit for extended periods as well as stand occasionally. Position requires use of computer, telephone, fax machine, copier and may require accessing locations by use of stairs.
