The Escrow Paralegal is responsible for handling the due diligence review and closing of residential real estate transactions for home or land acquisitions in specifically assigned market(s), reviewing title and Homeowners Association (HOA) governing documents, and resolving matters of title and liens for the property portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Drives the real estate closing process from initial contract to closing for assigned market, working closely with closing attorney, escrow/title companies, and brokers, and reviews and collects necessary title, HOA and closing documents required to ensure full compliance, coordination, and support of Asset Management.
  • Reviews HOA governing documents for leasing and occupancy restrictions; monitors HOA updates for legal impact on properties.
  • Handles resolution of liens and any matter preventing clean title on acquired properties; participates in team meetings with Acquisition, Asset Management and Legal Departments.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of real estate transactional experience required. Experience must include contract review/light drafting, real estate escrow closings, title and other diligence review and legal research of statutes and case law.
  • ALTA survey review experience desired
  • Paralegal Certificate required
  • Active Notary Public desired
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and office-related software required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and office-related software required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving, planning and analysis skills
  • Strong relationship management, organizing and customer service skills
  • Must be able to meet multiple deadlines
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be able to implement process improvement changes
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be able to pay close attention to details
  • Must be able to adapt and flex to a changing environment
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds

In the states of Colorado, California, Illinois and Washington, the anticipated pay range/scale for this position is $32.97- $44.42 per hour. Actual starting base pay within this range will depend on factors including geographic location, education, training, skills, and relevant experience.

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in medical, dental and vision insurance; flexible spending accounts and/or health savings accounts; dependent savings accounts; 401(k) with company matching contributions; employee stock purchase plan; and a tuition reimbursement program. The Company provides 9 paid holidays per year, and, upon hire, new employees will accrue paid time off (PTO) at a rate of 0.0577 hours of PTO per hour worked, up to a maximum of 120 hours per year.
