What You’ll Do
Principal is looking for a ESOP Consultant to interact with multi-functional groups to help with the plan design and technical analysis of Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP).
Here are some of the things you’ll do:
- Consult on projects for ESOP clients and prospects related to complex solutions, technical plan design and compliance-related questions, including integration with other retirement programs, e.g. 401(k) plan, non-qualified deferred compensation, etc.
- Provide technical expertise and serve as SME for ESOP and employer securities topics, both privately held and publicly traded.

Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, plus 9+ years of retirement, ERISA, or employee benefit related experience
- ESOP experience is preferred
- Must have strong technical, statutory and regulatory knowledge of qualified and non-qualified plans
- Requires a high level of creativity, initiative, resourcefulness, and the proven ability to demonstrate pension experience and knowledge to define and sell valuable consulting services
- Actively listen and ask the right questions to understand what the client needs and deliver upon requests
- Ability to take a proactive stance and initiate client action before being asked to do so by keeping up-to-date on industry and market developments, analyzing and interpreting how they impact clients
- Travel required – less than 20% of the time
Skills that will help you stand out:
- Banking, attorney, accounting or consulting firm experience valued
- Industry education (FLMI, HIAA, CRC, CLU, etc)
- Knowledge of ESOP Administration advantageous
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range
$95200 – $182400 / year
