Overview
Under direct supervision from the Box Office/Parking Manager, Assistant Box Office/Parking Manager or Event Cashier Supervisor, the Event Cashier will function as a ticket seller, service desk cashier or parking cashier for scheduled events. The Event Cashier may also receive event-related instructions from an Event Manager or Manager on Duty.
This role will pay an hourly wage of $17.00.

About the Venue
The Greater Richmond Convention Center is the largest meeting and exhibition venue in the Commonwealth of Virginia. With 178,158 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, a 30,550 square-foot Grand Ballroom and 50,000 square feet of additional meeting/banquet space, the GRCC is well-positioned to host a variety of events from small meetings to large trade shows and conventions. Situated along the I-95 corridor, the GRCC lies within a 500 mile radius of one half of the U.S. population. The Richmond Region is an affordable market in Central Virginia with the Blue Ridge Mountains to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the south, Washington D.C. to the east and North Carolina to the west.
Responsibilities
- Sell admission tickets to the general public over the counter, by mail order or telephone reservation
- Operate computerized ticketing machines by entering information into a keyboard, loading tickets and replacing ribbons on a ticket printer
- Count, store and rack admission tickets according to event and performance date
- Provide general information regarding event times, location, ticket pricing, seating arrangements, etc.
- Explain box office policies, answer questions, and resolve routine problems regarding ticket sales
- Take on-site orders and collect fees for utility connections
- Oversee the installation of utility connections during event move in
- Serve as liaison between exhibitors and the facility; provide exhibitors with general information regarding facility services
- Prohibit unauthorized electrical connections to the facility and disconnect those persons in violation
- Collect fees from vehicles upon entry into the parking facility
- Direct vehicles into and out of the parking garage
- Balance cash, check and credit receipts; provide explanations for variances
- Be aware of the location and use of emergency alarms and equipment; follow established procedures in case of fire, disorder or another emergency situation
- Maintain high degree of visibility and professionalism
- Communicate clearly and in a polite and courteous manner with staff, contractors and guests
- Occasionally perform light cleaning within the parking deck
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must possess strong mathematical skills and some prior cash handling experience for ticket seller/cashier functions
- Must have strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to stand for long periods of
- Must be dependable and willing to work variety of schedules; including holidays, days, evenings, and
Education / Training:
- High school diploma, or equivalent GED
Licenses or Certificates:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain a CPR certificate
- Must pass a background check and after 400 hours worked a drug test
- Completion of a Certified Crowd Manager Training course or the ability to complete a course paid for by the Employer within 60 days of employment
These are part-time, as needed, positions with no minimum number of hours guaranteed. Work schedules are determined by event activity.
