Event-Driven/Merger Arb Analyst

We are seeking a talented and motivated Event-Driven/Merger Arbitrage Analyst to join our Equities Trading Desk. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, deep understanding of the event-driven landscape, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions.
  • Comprehend and analyze legal documents related to M&A transactions, and effectively communicate their implications.
  • Assess the impact of M&A events on equity and credit securities and identify potential arbitrage opportunities.
  • Produce event-driven analysis for external distribution to institutional clients and communicate views and ideas on situations internally and to clients.
  • Monitor market trends, news, and regulatory developments that may affect the equities and credit trading landscape.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, counterparties, and industry professionals.
  • Lead calls with industry experts, lawyers, business executives.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends related to M&A activity

  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills – able to interact with people of all levels in a confident, professional manner and effectively present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements, financial modeling techniques, and investment analysis concepts.
  • Proficiency in data gathering, analysis, and synthesis using various tools, including Excel, financial databases, and research platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail with strong follow-up and ability to maintain accuracy while working with large volumes of data.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and establish effective working relationships with colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to excellence – perform duties at the highest level possible on a consistent basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years’ relevant experience.
  • FINRA licensed- Series 7, 63, 86, and 87 or willing to test prior to hire.
  • Experience and in-depth understanding of Event-driven strategies, including but not limited to distressed situations, litigation, M&A or other Special Situations.
  • Banking or legal background is a plus.

Odeon Capital Group provides a total compensation package which may include a base salary, commissions, discretionary performance bonus, and/or a comprehensive benefits package. The estimated base salary range for this position, at the time of posting, is $125,000 to $175,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. When finalizing an offer, we take into consideration an individual’s experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. The final base salary amount that is offered to any candidate, in any location, will be determined on several factors, which may include but are not limited to location, work experience, skills, knowledge, education, and/or regulatory licenses.
