Overview
Under direct supervision from the Director of Safety & Security, the Security Coordinator or an Event Staff Supervisor, Event Staff serve in a variety of event related roles, including crowd monitoring/control, general protection of persons and property, and provider of general information and assistance to facility event organizers and guests. Event Staff personnel function as ticket takers, ushers, door monitors, badge checkers, coat-check attendants and loading dock/parking attendants.
This role will pay an hourly wage of $17.00.

Responsibilities
- Monitor event activity and persons within the venue or assigned areas outside of the venue. Notify a supervisor of any suspicious activity/behavior or any potentially problematic issues
- Maintain a high level of awareness with respect to safety and security of persons and property. Immediately notify a supervisor of any real or perceived issues or safety hazards.
- Follow the principle of “See Something Say Something”
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while handling difficult situations
- Assist in maintaining order during an event and help evacuate the venue during an emergency
- Greet guests and provide general event and facility information to event organizers and guests
- Follow specific event related instructions given for any assigned event at the Center
- Manage entry into an event by authorized persons and deny entry for unauthorized persons. Collect tickets, passes, or other credentials for admission and verify them for authenticity
- Prohibit access to guests without proper tickets, passes or other authentic entry credentials
- Provide an accounting of tickets, passes or other credentials collected
- Direct guests to their Prohibit entry into an event through doors assigned to monitor
- Ensure assigned exit doors are clear and free of obstructions
- Direct vehicles into and out of the venue loading dock areas and lead vehicles to authorized parking spots
- Monitor and direct vehicular traffic into and out of the parking deck. Monitor vehicles parked
- Direct vehicle occupants where to enter the venue, keep traffic and emergency lanes clear
- Receive guests’ garments, issue coat check tickets, store and secure guest garments, return guest garments upon presentation of the proper coat check ticket.
- Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to stand for long periods of
- Must be dependable and willing to work variety of schedules; including holidays, days, evenings, and
Education / Training:
- High school diploma, or equivalent GED
Licenses or Certificates:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain a Virginia driver’s license or identification card
- Possession of, or ability to obtain a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate paid for by the Employer
- Must pass a background check and after 400 hours worked a drug test paid for by the Employer
- Completion of a Certified Crowd Manager Training course or the ability to complete a course paid for by the Employer within 60 days of employment
