POSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is drive generate best in class retail concepts and to align the global Brand image creatively and strategically for Estee Lauder within all retail formats. This position will report to the Vice President of Global Store Design, Visual Merchandising, and Brand Experience.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Manage a team of Designers to develop new brand concepts, design Global Flagship projects, and partake in key initiatives to elevate the overall brand experience.
• Manage high volume workload and prioritize project requirements effectively within a fast-paced environment.
• Coordinate with Global Marketing, Creative, Visual Merchandising to develop and maintain a cohesive brand design identity and in-store experience.
• Collaborate with VP ensuring Global Brand vision is upheld at consistent level of excellence while addressing regional parameters and concerns.
• Ensure clear communication, transfer of information and alignment of regional teams to maintain and build collaborative and efficient process.
• Oversee all Retail formats (including Department Stores, Freestanding Stores, Travel Retail, and Specialty-Multi environments). Responsibilities Include:
o Develop or review all 2D layouts and 3D visualizations of designs based on briefs received from Regional Teams after alignment with Marketing and Global Retail Experience
o Ensure team is on target to meet all internal approvals from all key decision makers. These include alignment with VP, Creative Director, and other Senior Leadership Members
o Manage key milestones and deliverables for the team to ensure all target dates are met
o Develop 2D design development drawings and detail custom conditions
o Source and specify new materials, seating, technology, etc. that align with the overall brand strategy
o Review and comment on all shop drawings, construction sets, light layouts, etc.
o Coordinate with external vendors on any specialty elements that are Flagship specific
o Lead the prototyping of any new elements
o Review and compile punch-lists for projects in conjunction wit Regional teams
• Oversee and maintain a consistent set of Global Brand Standards that include spatial renderings, floor plans, millwork details, architectural details, and material specifications that can be cascaded to all regions for localization and implementation.
• Work closely with local Regional Design Development Centers, Local Affiliates, Indirect Procurement, and other internal partners. Adapt current and future store concepts to meet regional needs through value engineering, sustainability requirements, or local code requirements.
• Take initiative to be up to date and aware of Global projects and ascertain relevancy for this market.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 10 – 12 years of design experience.
• B.Arch or M.Arch preferred and/or alternative design experience (interior, exhibition, industrial). Licensure is not required.
• At least 5 years of project management experience.
• Must have strong leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to detail fixtures in realistic and executable fashion.
• Knowledge of materials and methods of fabrication and installation of fixtures and construction.
• Proficient 2D and 3D (programs include: Vectorworks/AutoCad/3D Studio Max/V-Ray)
• Deep knowledge of 3D Studio Max + V-Ray preferred.
• Effective multi-tasker who can manage projects from conception through production in a fast-paced changing environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate others on team.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge of retail trends and environments.
• Must be able to work independently as well as with the team.
• Must be able to follow projects from inception to completion.
• Must be able to execute multiple projects at once in a timely and efficient manner.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $149,500 to $257,000. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results as well as participation in the share incentive plan.
