What You’ll Do:
Ohio Department of Public Safety – Emergency Management Agency
Report In Location: 2855 W. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235
Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
(CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE) Will report into the office 3 days a week and telework 2 day a week. Subject to change.
Under the general supervision of the Planner Supervisor, act as project leader &/or principal liaison to assist in planning regional & statewide emergency management assistance by improving local & state level operational readiness capabilities (e.g. respond & recover from emergencies & disasters through training & exercise activities; assess local & state program needs & provide comprehensive technical guidance & assistance in preparedness training & exercise; assist in the development & implementation of a progressive exercise plan based on the review of the state emergency operations plan); Collaborate with other Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) sections & regional staff to assist localities in development of training & exercise criteria, programs, & training goals; Ensure required exercises are designed appropriately & are conducted in accordance with established Emergency Management Agency (EMA), state, & federal guidelines; Coordinate the collection of the multiyear training & exercise plan & update as necessary; Develop & maintain an exercise development guide in conjunction with the Homeland Security Exercise & Evaluation Program (HSEEP) process & design course; Monitor completion of required EMA exercises for reporting purposes.
Plan, schedule, & conduct training & exercise programs (e.g. schedule employees & instructors for sessions; prepare & revise training materials; conduct workshops, reviews, & training sessions); Review policies & procedures & provide recommendations; Prepare required reports (e.g. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) performance grant quarterly reports; federal grant requirements; state emergency operations); Monitor & evaluate project activities; Represent EMA at state & federal meetings & conferences & with the general public.
Maintain records & reports related to training & exercise activities (e.g. compile training & exercise data; maintain exercise files & the electronic exercise library; disseminate information regarding scheduling & course materials); Collaborate with Ohio EMA State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) manager to develop & complete regular exercises; Provide assistance to the SEOC during emergencies & disaster activations (e.g. contact county situation writer; track & monitor mission); Assist with other emergency support duties to meet operation requirements; Perform other related duties as assigned; Provides assistance during emergencies to the State Emergency Operations Center during emergencies &/or disaster activations & exercises (e.g., contacts counties situation writer, mission tracking, &/or general assistance); Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Completion of undergraduate core program or 24 mos. exp. in assigned program area (e.g., engineering, landscape architecture, rehabilitation, mental health technology, transportation, physical, behavioral & social science, urban or community planning, natural resources, business or public administration); 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operational, mathematical, analytical or statistical research methods used in conducting & documenting research studies; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in budgeting; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in technical writing or business communication.
-Or 6 mos. exp. as Planner 2, 85312, in assigned program area.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
Assigned Program Area – Completion of an undergraduate core program or 24 months experience in emergency preparedness, disaster management, or homeland security.
