The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Experienced or Senior Software Engineer to join the Satellite Mission Software team located in Kent, WA .
This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience developing and maintaining complex cloud-based software. You will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of software engineers, data scientists, and technology experts to build and deploy cutting edge mission support software for government space missions.
This position requires motivated, self-learning individuals who want to learn new skills and technologies quickly to meet customer needs. In this role, you will work to rapidly develop software in an Agile team while working to uphold rigorous testing and clean software practices. You will develop skills in technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and CI/CD pipelines while learning about and adapting to complex mission applications.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain highly available software to host complex mission processing and support algorithms and models
- Work to optimize performance and resource utilization for software running in a cloud environment
- Develop automated unit and end-to-end testing
- Support implementation of machine learning methods and streamline training of new models to meet customer needs
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 or more years of software development experience including Python
- Experience deploying and maintaining software in a cloud environment (such as AWS)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with cloud computing and virtualization technologies (Splunk, Vmware) and containerized applications and frameworks (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with AWS, Elastic MapReduce (EMR), EC2, S3, Sagemaker
- Excellent communication, software readability, and documentation practices
- Experience architecting and working with databases (MySQL, MongoDB, etc.)
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams alongside other engineers and scientists
- Experience using team collaboration tools including Git, JIRA, Confluence, Artifactory, etc
- Current CompTIA Security+ certification

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range:
Experienced $112,200 – $151,800
Senior $130,900 – $177,100
