The Boeing Company is currently seeking a F/A-18 and EA-18G Software Engineering Manager to join the F/A-18 Mission Systems Software group located in Berkeley, MO.

The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic and cohesive management team in a large, cross-functional Scaled Agile™ development environment that includes government and Boeing teammates as part of the Solution Train. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The ideal candidate will lead the Data Fusion team of engineers developing real time embedded software for the F/A-18 in an agile, collaborative environment. Engineers on the team develop software that is responsible for multi-sensor integration capabilities within the Advanced Mission Computer (AMC) and Distributed Target Processor – Networked (DTP-N). Additionally, you will serve as a business owner on the Sensors & Data Fusion (S&DF) Agile Release Train (ART). The successful candidate will need to work as part of a cohesive leadership team. Adaptability, the ability to work closely with others, and an open mind are essential attributes of the management team members. Experience in leading teams is required, agile development experience and mission systems experience is preferred and highly beneficial.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering
  • Develops and carries out project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and team members
  • Provides guidance and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Ability to obtain a final Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start).

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Engineering or a Technical Field
  • 3 or more years of leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Prior experience working on Mission Systems products
  • Experience leading teams, ideally software teams
  • Familiarity/Experience with F/A-18 Software products and processes
  • Working knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience with Earned Value Management

Travel:

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

Summary pay range for Manager: $132,600.00 – $179,400.00

To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
