Reporting to the Director of Facilities Planning and Operations, the Facilities Manager will supervise the facilities and assist students and faculty during the evening and weekend building operating hours. This full-time position requires familiarity with the technical aspects of television studios and production, control rooms, computer labs, classroom A/V and other facilities within the building and the ability to do minor equipment trouble-shooting, routine maintenance and occasional event set up and break down. The work schedule, to be determined from time to time by the Director of Facilities Planning and Operations, will involve evening and weekend hours. During the fall and spring academic semesters, the working schedule generally includes three nights during the week (and both weekend days (Saturday and Sunday). During the remaining times of the year (January and summer sessions), the position may follow a regular administrative schedule.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervises the facility and assists students and faculty during building operating hours.
  • Plays an active role in managing the building’s room scheduling system: reviews and administers student, faculty, and staff reservation requests for rooms and/or production spaces within the facility.
  • Performs equipment trouble-shooting, routine maintenance, and event set-up and break down.
  • Works closely with students and faculty during all aspects of production for class assignments and co-curricular activities.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of the facility, locks up to secure the building at the end of the operating hours.
  • Oversees the operation of the Lawrence Herbert School of Communications ( LHSC ) Equipment Room and works closely with the Equipment Room Manager and student employees, during weekends and evenings.
  • Supports and assists the Media Engineering department. Covers engineering requests and/or needs as necessary with an active support role during evening and weekend hours.
  • Assists the Director of Facilities Planning and Operations with the logistical and operational needs of the building – including but not limited to: faculty office moves, facility work orders, LHSC vehicle management, liaise with Plant Department, Public Safety and/or appropriate personnel for emergency and immediate action items.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Basic knowledge of non-linear editing platforms (Avid Media Composer/Adobe Premiere, ProTools Audio).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General knowledge of classroom AV systems and schedule management, preferred.

Salary/Salary Range $70,000 – $75,000
