The Facility Mechanical Engineering Technician is responsible for performing a variety of work including the maintenance and repair of building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in assigned area(s) under limited supervision.
The Role
- Inspects assigned areas on a routine basis and performs maintenance where necessary to keep facilities in functioning and serviceable condition.
- Completes daily, weekly, or monthly checklists of planned building and equipment maintenance procedures.
- Performs preventive maintenance, repair and inspection of facility equipment, such as chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, DI water systems, vacuum pumps and nitrogen tanks, etc.
- Monitors and makes changes to the building management system (BMS) to ensure customers are comfortable in the most efficient manner while keeping operating costs to a minimum
- Reports any major maintenance needs and recommends corrective action as appropriate for building HVAC units, clean compressed gases, chillers, building generators and mechanical equipment.
- Lead or participate in project teams including the supervision of contractors.
- Provide estimates of resource requirements.
- Technical Analysis: including mechanical system and technology plant fits, capacity and equipment utilization, value engineering, sustainable design, constructability and assessment of applicable new technologies to balance performance, cost and maintainability
- Physical demands/surroundings – works primarily in an office environment. Required to be on the process floor as necessary to perform work outlined in this profile.
- Visual Demands – must be able to read and see clearly with or without correction lens.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of engineering/facility maintenance experience preferred
- Plumbing Skills required
- Electrical Skills and familiarity with electrical drawings
- Prior work experience with building automation systems, i.e., those manufactured by ALC, Siemens, or Trane.
- HVAC EPA certification (preferred)
- Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Requires occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Must be available to work flexible hours including rotational “on call” evenings and weekends
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
California/Bay Area: $104,000 – $130,000
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
