Facilities Operations Specialist
Job Description:
The Department of Animal Sciences is seeking a Facilities Operations Specialist. This position is responsible for serving as the building asset manager, managing the department vehicle fleet, identifying needs, coordinating repair and maintenance, managing space allocation, serving as the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator and managing faculty storage spaces in the department.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
– Manages department vehicle fleet to include annual safety inspections, routine repairs and maintenance. Develops and oversees departmental vehicle policies and procedures as they apply to use by faculty, staff and graduate students.
– Serves as building Asset Manager and is responsible for procurement and removal of assets from the department inventory. Responsible for annual asset inventory for the department. This includes managing asset disposal processes, surplus requests, and attractive property items inventory.
– Identifies needs, processes work orders, and coordinates repair and maintenance of buildings with IFAS facilities and their contractors. This includes annual maintenance contract agreements on equipment. Establish control policies for building and room keys and maintain key requisitions. Management of key inventory.
– Manage Space Allocation Reporting to include conducting interviews, allocating space appropriately and amendments for floor plans based on renovations.
– Serves as Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Coordinator in the department. Serves as point of contact with UF EH&S to coordinate routine communication and inspections. Provides counsel to faculty and other staff to assist in improving EH&S compliance among individual faculty programs.
– Manages faculty storage spaces including freezers, refrigeration, forage and feed buildings, allocated cages, and other faculty storage areas.
– Serves as point of contact with UF custodial services to clean and maintain functional facilities.
– Other duties as required by supervisor.
Normal Work Schedule:
8am – 5:00 pm schedule could vary depending on the time of the year.
Duties will be conducted indoors and outdoors
Expected Salary:
$45,600 to $50,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver license
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to work independently, multi-task, and handle a wide variety of assignments.
Excellent communication skills.
Basic knowledge of equipment and building maintenance.
