What Your Job Will Be Like
We are looking for a dedicated and energetic individual to join our Facilities Management team as a Facilities Structural Engineer. Our fast paced, National Laboratory setting necessitates that the candidate be comfortable with ambiguity and variability of assignment and accept the value of being in a service group. We seek a well-rounded individual, adept at problem solving in a variety of settings.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Assess system and infrastructure issues, conceptualize potential solutions, make recommendations, and develop project plans.
- Perform engineering analysis, calculations, and develop construction drawings and specifications sufficient to define systems for modification
- Create long-term capital improvement plans and develop work packages for building and site utility systems
- Review plans for modifications and improve cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction

Salary Range
$100,900 – $195,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering plus 5 or more years of relevant experience
- Experience performing structural and/or civil designs for building systems and site utilities
- Knowledge of California Building Codes
- Ability to manage projects from concept through design and construction
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
Qualifications We Desire
- Master’s degree in civil/structural engineering
- Professional Engineer license (PE) in the State of California
- In-depth knowledge and experience with California Building Codes and California environmental regulations
- PMP certification from the Project Management Institute
- Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization with both internal and external customers
About Our Team
The Partnership and Planning Department supports the mission by establishing long range planning & investment strategies and implementation plans. The team develops and maintains effective strategic customer partnerships and integrates F&I plans into the investment and planning strategies. The team also provides space management, condition, and energy assessments of the facilities and site infrastructure.
