Position Summary
The Facilities Technician I/II will ensure the highest possible level of service to our customers while working to perform facility maintenance, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and carpentry repair work as directed on equipment and/or buildings. Requires knowledge of the methods, practices, techniques, tools, equipment and materials, used in general building maintenance and repair.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and routine building maintenance; repair to furniture, light fixtures, floor tile, carpet, plumbing fixtures, roofs, windows, doors, wall painting, minor electrical, ceiling tiles, etc.
- Support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of office and laboratory facilities, including building utilities (compressed gasses, plumbing, power, lighting, etc.), lab equipment and hazardous waste pick-up
- Perform basic vendor management and supervision of licensed trade professionals as needed.
- Move and/or transport furniture, equipment, and materials
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of facility, including removal of garbage, re-cycle paper/cardboard bins, sweeping. Ensure that all paper supplies for kitchens/cafeterias, washrooms, and eye cleaning stations are in place
- Ensures adequate supplies of stock for maintenance is maintained
- Backfill support for shipping and receiving products, supplies and materials to support operations
- Ensure customer satisfaction by meeting deadlines, successfully completing assigned work orders, and providing timely communication
- Adhere to Company Code of Ethics to treat all individuals with respect and dignity, in a business-like manner
- Other duties as assigned by management
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Basic computer skills including, file management, MS Word, Excel and Access preferred
- Minimum 1yr of job related experience in at least one of the following areas: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or any similar combination of experience and education
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to Exceed Customer Expectations
- Interpret or work from sketches, building plans, specifications and oral or written instructions

Gritstone bio anticipates that the base salary for the Facilities Technician I position could range between $52,000 – $90,000. Likewise, the base salary for the Facilities Technician II position could range between $70,000 – $107,000. Compensation will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s credentials for the role, including education, qualifications, and type as well as length of experience. Any offered salary is also based on internal equity, internal position salary ranges, and market data. The salary range listed does not include any applicable bonuses or long-term incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. Gritstone is a multistate employer and the salary offered will be market competitive. At Gritstone, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
Gritstone’s benefit package includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and paid parental leave. Employees are also eligible to enroll in the 401k plan, which includes a 4% company match with immediate vesting.
