The Facility Design Intern is an essential, valued member of the O&M Facility Design staff directly responsible for assisting in the development of major project deliverables. This person is a self-motivated, creative, and innovative individual, showing an ability to be a team player in a multi-office A/E firm with team members across all four time zones. The Facility Design Intern reports to the Region Manager or Facility Design Manager. Some travel to client sites or other MDG offices is possible.

Typical Work

Tasks / Duties

  • Facility programming, report writing, site master planning, developing specifications and construction documents
  • Selection, coordination and layout of various aspects of design (vehicle maintenance equipment, site flow, etc.)
  • Creating / using Building Information Modeling (BIM) to complete different levels of documents
  • Submittal, shop drawing, and RFI review
  • Conduct construction field observations
  • Other design / engineering tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Academic / Experience

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, studying architecture, industrial design or related
  • 2 to 4 years’ of completed coursework in chosen field of study

Technical

  • Familiarity of Revit and AutoCAD, and knowledge of SketchUp
  • Familiarity of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project)
  • Working knowledge of LOD 300 requirements

Preferred Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving and idea generation
  • Ability to hand draw conceptual site and building plans
  • Positive, solution orientated attitude

The expected compensation range for this position is $20.00 – $21.00 hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
