*Typical weekday shifts are 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and weekend hours range, depending on programming. Hours are on an as needed basis. *
This employee supervises and monitors various athletic programs and facilities throughout the calendar year. Programs in this category consist of but are not limited to the following: Baseball, Softball, Basketball, and Hockey.
An employee in this class is responsible for opening, closing and monitoring the Community Center and other facilities, greeting participants, and enforcing rules and regulations. Performs routine work managing and supervising Athletic program activities, including youth and adult sports leagues, events and facility upkeep. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Superintendent. Must be available to work a flexible schedule.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide information to the public regarding programs and activities
- Inspect facility, set-up and break-down equipment; report problems to the Recreation Superintendent
- Close and secure facility
- Operate game clock and keep scorebook
- Maintains enthusiasm and tact in all contact with the public, program participants, and other staff
- Maintain clean work and play areas
- Enforce program rules; document incidents if needed
- Carries out job duties in a safe manner in accordance with all VOP and department policies
- Specific duties may vary depending on program discipline
- Other related duties as assigned

SAFETY:
This position requires enforcing and following all Village of Pinehurst and OSHA safety regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Effective visual perception is needed for making observations including distinguishing colors, performing visual and physical inspections of work site. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. The employee may be exposed to noise, infectious and/or contagious diseases, and inclement weather.
Work is typically performed while walking, standing, running, bending, crouching, or stooping. Employee will occasionally lift light and heavy objects.
Must be able to perform moderate work exerting up to 25 lbs. of force, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
18 years of age at the time of employment. Must be available to work a flexible schedule. An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the job. Requires previous experience, demonstrated ability and/or aptitude, and orientation toward supervising groups of participants in the specific field of activity. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Prefer: First Aid/CPR certified
