Fairchild Media has an immediate opening for a highly motivated, detail-oriented junior designer to join its growing editorial design department. The Junior Designer will report directly to the VP of Creative and work closely with the senior design director and art director on a mix of digital and print products – WWD Digital Daily and Beauty Inc. weekly newsletter, and contribute to Footwear News monthly and Beauty Inc. bi-monthly print magazines.
Responsibilities:
- Design editorial pages for daily, bi-weekly, and monthly digital and print publications
- Actively contribute to the creative and production needs of the department
- Communicate effectively with other departments while keeping the team up-to-date to meet deadlines.
- Design and create graphics for social, web, and video.
Requirements:
- Applicants should be open to working a flexible schedule that includes an evening shift from Sunday through Thursday on a rotating basis. This is a must to meet the needs of a daily fashion news publication.
- 1+ years of experience working with an in-house design team, ideally with an editorial background.
- Possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, adapt, and take direction and feedback with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail and smart time management skills-whether working independently or in a team setting.
- Must have a portfolio demonstrating a basic foundation in typography, layout, color, and composition.
- Equally skilled at working with templates as well as designing one-off creative features.
- Proficiency and experience using Adobe CC, InDesign, Photoshop, and XD are a must.
Typical wage range: $52k – 63,700k
Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.PMC is committed to the health and wellness of our employees.
