POSITION SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will work with Amtrak’s Gateway Program Management team to support project management functions for the nation’s most urgent infrastructure project, known as the Gateway Program. Reporting to the Gateway Program Manager, the selected candidate should exhibit an interest in project controls to support capital programs and reporting of scope, schedule and budget functions. More specifically, the role will entail implementation of knowledge, skills and abilities related to the following subject areas – program/project management, urban planning, engineering, information technology, and graphic design.

This position is ideal for a self-starter with strong communication and technical skillsets to work collaboratively with the Gateway Program team and partners and in coordination with Amtrak Engineering, Planning, Communications, agencies of the USDOT, and regional agency stakeholders to advance the Gateway Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Support project controls functions related to Program scope, schedule and budget
• Participate in monthly risk development meetings
• Provide innovative technical and graphic support to provide recommendations for document control and organization management using Microsoft 365 Suite applications
• Assist as needed with executive-level reporting
• Communicate effectively and professionally with key stakeholders and executives
• Research, collect and analyze information in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Multi-task and effectively manage multiple projects at the same time

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution
• Must be actively pursuing a graduate degree in project management, business administration, engineering management, construction management, planning, or Information Technology
• Must have at least (2) semesters of academic graduate studies completed
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Basic understanding of Northeast Corridor rail operations with passion for transportation infrastructure
• Interest in one or more of the following subject areas – program/project management, urban planning, engineering, information technology, and/or graphic design
• Demonstrate advanced proficiency in excel and data analysis
• Demonstrate advanced proficiency using Microsoft 365 Suite applications
• Demonstrate advanced corporate writing and editing skills
• Ability to provide oral and written communication of fundamental technical and analytical details
• Obsessive attention to detail and accuracy

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

The hourly range is $19.50 per hour – $22.10 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
