Overview
The Marketing Intern gives students the opportunity to go behind the curtains to understand what it takes to market and promote a variety of concerts, conventions, sporting events, and more. Your work contributes to the lasting memories made from a child’s birthday party at an Iowa Wild hockey game, someone’s very first concert, or friends reliving the glory days at a hairband.
This role will pay an hourly wage of $12.00.

About the Venue
The Iowa Events Center is a three venue, state-of-the-art multi-purpose complex located in the heart of downtown Des Moines, IA. The Iowa Events Center is owned by Polk County and managed by OVG360, a division of Oak View Group. OVG360 is a full-service venue management and hospitality company that helps client-partners reimagine the sports, live entertainment, and convention industries for the betterment of the venue, employees, artists, athletes, and surrounding communities.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing event marketing plans and promotions
for various types of events.
Assist the Digital Marketing Coordinator in creating content for the - Wells Fargo Arena and Iowa Events Center Facebook, Instagram, Twitter,
TikTok, Snapchat, and Podcast. - Execute show promotions as agreed upon in the marketing Ad Program.
Attend meetings that include brainstorming sessions and explain how to
execute public relations event ideas. - Participate in grassroots marketing, including distribution of flyers, hanging
posters, and creating relationships with various retailers to promote events. - Perform variety of event day responsibilities within the Marketing Department.
Qualifications
- Current college sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Sports Management, Hospitality, or related field of study
- GPA of 3.3 or above (highly desired)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to roll up sleeves to lend a hand and execute projects
- Willingness to learn and open to coaching
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must have reliable transportation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
