Department Profile

The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm’s books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley’s various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley’s various businesses and its senior management team.

Morgan Stanley is seeking a strong candidate for a role in the FHC Capital and BS Governance team. Candidate will be responsible for the reporting of Key Risk Indicators (KRI) and execution of the regulatory reporting control framework. Candidate will need to effectively represent the firm to co-ordinate the examinations conducted by Federal Reserve Bank examiners and internal/external auditors. Candidate will interact internally across divisions including Regulatory Controllers, Business Unit Controllers, Market Risk Department, Credit Risk Department, Legal Department, Treasury, Operations, Information Technology and Financial Control. This candidate, who will report to the Head of FHC Capital and BS Governance will support the following processes:

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordination, preparation, response, and issue management across Regulatory Exams and Internal 2nd and 3rd line reviews
  • Implement control and data attestation framework amendments in response to evolving regulatory requirements, risk mitigation, process automation, data sourcing, and acquisition integration
  • Track and monitor the timely remediation of data issues impacting capital reporting
  • Perform control checks to ensure timeliness and integrity of attestations supporting regulatory submission
  • Assist with coordination, review and challenge and compilation of materials for the Annual Basel III Self-Assessment exercise
  • Drive system enhancements across applications that support attestation processes (Axiom/CILA/OP/Collibra/CFOA portal) and perform related UAT and production migration testing
  • Drive Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) for Global Regulatory Controllers and progress remediation plans where applicable
  • Maintain KRI metrics to measure the Global Regulatory Controllers risk profile, drive risk mitigation, and generate efficiencies
  • Maintain regulatory reporting inventory and annual certifications
  • Maintain KPI metrics and prepare materials to support monthly supervision meetings for GIC support and update compliance documentation based on changes to global supervision model
  • Ensure development and timely update of regulatory reporting policies and procedures
  • Drive resolution and timely/sufficient closure of Issues and Action plans.
  • Update End User Computing Inventory and associated use classification

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Regulatory Reporting risk and controls
  • Strong understanding of internal controls including but not limited SOX and RCSA
  • Exposure to the preparation of key regulatory filings FR Y-9C, FFIEC 101, Pillar III
  • Ability to design and maintain reporting to drive key initiatives
  • Experience in assessing risk and establishing effective controls
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to interact well with others at all levels and drive objectives
  • Ability to handle and resolve challenges and problems
  • Strong proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
