Software Development Organization Support Manager

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a manager for the support organization of the Theater Mission Planning Center (TMPC) program who will manage a team of seven to ten employees. This is part of the Navy’s Tomahawk Missile program. We are a CMMI Level 3 and ISO/AS9100 rated program.

Peraton develops several TMPC applications, providing support for tactical and training operations. Functions provided by these applications include mission planning; data distribution; strike planning, rehearsal, and coordination; strike execution, monitoring, and control; strike reporting; and communications configuration and data management/delivery.

The primary focus of your role will be:

  • To actively manage support functions for the program, including Configuration Management, Data Management, Technical Publications, and Lab Installations.
  • To actively manage, and have HR responsibilities for, direct reports performing the support functions.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • Collaborate with program/project managers and the development teams to plan and conduct required activities in support of the development and timely delivery of the TMPC product.
    • Configuration Management – create software builds, CR (bug) data management with customer counterpart.
    • Data Management – prepare deliverables, track delivery schedule, and maintain library of formal records and files.
    • Technical Publications – generate documents and media in correct formats following established standards.
    • Lab Installations – install the latest software versions (CM builds) in the development and test environments at the Santa Clara, CA facility.
  • Learn the roles and responsibilities of each support function, including a basic understanding of the processes and procedures for each function.
  • Build and motivate an effective team.
  • Problem-solve to resolve or mitigate schedule and resource conflicts in concurrence with the program/project managers and development teams.
  • Provide progress reports to program/project managers.
  • Inform the development teams of activity status and variances to the schedules.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the program processes and procedures.
  • Perform corporate manger activities for direct reports, i.e., signing timecards, conducting performance evaluations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • BS 10-12, MS 8-10, Phd 5-7

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to work with multiple teams to establish priorities and schedules.
  • Ability to track multiple schedules and ensure resources are available to complete the assigned tasks on time.
  • Strong management and people skills, with team lead/management experience and ability to build a strong and integrated team.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding of software development activities and methodologies, including Agile development practices.
  • Software QA, development, management experience.

The following knowledge and experience are a plus:

  • Familiarity with CMMI and ISO/AS9100 quality standards.
  • Experience with process audits.

Range for Posting

Salary Minimum: $72,500
Salary Mid: $145,000
Salary Maximum: $181,300

The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton’s total compensation package for employees.
