Financial Analyst – Random House

The Random House Finance and Analytics department is seeking an energetic, detail oriented self-starter to join our team as a Financial Analyst. The team is responsible for crunching numbers in support of all departments within the division of the Random House Publishing Group. This position will have an active role in monthly reporting and analysis, budgeting, and ad hoc reporting. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monthly/Quarterly Reporting
  • Compare actual results against budget and prior year and assist in preparation of monthly sales commentary
    • Assist with the preparation of quarterly financial reporting packages
    • Ad hoc monthly expense analysis as needed
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
    • Assist in the development of the annual budget and re-forecasts for all Random House Publishing Group imprints
    • Maintain detailed title schedule including title specific projections and title count
  • Publishing Support
    • Acquisition, Pricing, and Post-publication P&Ls
    • Compile author histories
    • Provide general ad hoc data and reporting upon request
  • Special Projects
    • Format, category, and imprint analyses
    • P&L analysis

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • 2-4 years of business experience in a finance/accounting role, or related analytical role
  • Advanced MS Excel skills are mandatory for this role. Must be able to easily manipulate large volumes of data and use advanced formulas/pivot tables/v- and h-lookups/sumifs, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be detailed oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Understanding of basic financial principles
  • Working knowledge of Power BI is a plus
  • Prior work experience within book publishing is a plus

The salary range for this position is $63,000 – $72,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
