SUMMARY
Incumbents perform advanced professional budget preparation, accounting and financial analysis work. This position provides frequent analysis of the City’s financial position to aid in decision making and reporting throughout the year and is engaged in various municipal accounting operations within the general ledger, cash, investments, and other special assignments. This position also monitors and reviews policies and procedures/processes, prepares financial analyses for short and long-range revenue and expenditures forecasts, and leads process improvements. Work is complex and requires independent judgment and leadership based upon a broad background or experience.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or other business related field from an accredited institution and five years professional experience in financial cost analysis, budget preparation, or a closely related financial/fiscal activity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Master’s degree preferred. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
