Financial Reporting Accountant 3

OBM is seeking an advanced Financial Reporting Accountant 3 who will focus on GAAP reporting of the state’s annual $70+ billion in activity. Financial Reporting Accountants participate in the compilation of the state’s 300+ page Annual Comprehensive Financial Report which undergoes the largest governmental financial statement audit in Ohio. This position also coordinates with state agencies to obtain federal grant expenditure activity for inclusion in the state’s Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards and leads or assists in researching and implementing required Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements.

Duties include:
• Participates in the development/preparation of state agency Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) reporting packages for accuracy and completion; participates in the preparation of the statewide SEFA and related schedules.
• Researches, analyzes, and applies applicable Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements, appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); researches and applies federal guidance related to financial statements and SEFA.
• Research, develop, and present financial reporting training materials and provide guidance to state agency personnel.
• Participates in the development/preparation of state agency GAAP Reporting Packages (GRP) for accuracy and completeness; participates in the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial report (ACFR).
• Queries and manipulates on-line data from the Ohio Administrative Knowledge System (OAKS) for financial reporting purposes as well as for management decision makers.
• Performs select review of work completed by lower-level GAAP staff or as assigned; initiates, leads and/or attends meetings as required.
• Assists in writing and/or development of Financial Reporting policies & work section/workpaper procedures.

Qualifications
Completion of graduate core program in accounting; 1 yr. work exp. as accountant or CPA.

-Or completion of undergraduate major core program in accounting; successful passage of CPA examination or 2 yrs. work exp. in accounting or auditing.

-Or 4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in governmental accounting or auditing.

-Or 6 mos. exp. as Financial Reporting Accountant 2, 66212.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
