The Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation is seeking a Financial Specialist in our Business Office, with the primary duty of accounts payable and accounts receivable. You’ll review vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness, verify the accounting information, and process them for payment. You’ll also help with processing deposits for the Vermont State Parks, and other revenue. If you are detail oriented and like to be busy, this may be the job for you. The ideal candidate brings financial experience, a service-oriented approach, and the ability to manage a complex workload with competing priorities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your skills and play an integral role in supporting FPR’s mission.

Primary responsibilities include:
• Process deposits for Vermont’s State Parks and other receivables.
• Process payables and manage vendor statements.
• Have the flexibility to learn new things and grow your skills.
• Deliver high-quality financial and administrative services in a team environment.

This position is a Grade 19 Step 1 rate of $20.00 per hour, however, there is potential to be hired at a higher step depending on the individual’s education and experience.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years or more of experience in accounting, bookkeeping or clerical work involving accounting or financial records.

OR

Completion of a vocational/technical training program in business, office administration, financial support or related area AND one (1) year or more of experience in accounting, bookkeeping or clerical work involving accounting or financial records.

OR

Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, office administration or a related field.

OR

Two years or more full-time college coursework in accounting, business administration, office administration or a related field.

OR

One (1) year or more of experience as a Financial Specialist I with the State of Vermont.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
