The Role
The Fire Protection Engineer will work on multiple projects and facilities in the Fremont Area. In addition to all technical capabilities, the ideal candidate must have the first principle mindset, the sense of ownership, capacity to adapt to a fast pace working environment, and the ability to frame problems and formulate innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop building and fire code compliance documents and fire life safety designs for new production lines / materials and other improvement in the facility
- Perform hazardous material analysis for code compliances purposes, such as chemical classification, chemical quantity analysis, chemical inventory management, and related system design support
- Develop & create fire protection system design criteria for new production lines / materials and other improvements in the facility Review and comment on shop drawing design packages developed by contractors
- Support Staff Fire Protection Engineer and other team members to develop AM&M (Alternate Means & Methods) to local AHJ to help with performance-based design criteria to meet intent of code
- Coordinate with various disciplines during the design process
- Support construction team to develop field solutions
- Perform system field inspection and testing observations to ascertain installation meets all design intents
- Develop process improvements / workflows / templates to increase design productivity and quality of deliverables
- Mentor team members from different functional groups
Requirements
- Licensed Fire Protection Engineer (US based license required and able to obtain CA reciprocity)
- Minimum 5 years of related experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or in similar related field
- Advance knowledge in NFPA standards and model codes (e.g. ICC codes) related to building fire safety. Advance knowledge in hazardous materials evaluation for code compliances
- Experience with fire suppression system and fire detection/alarm system designs and inspection.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is a huge plus
- Experience in Construction Administration
- Ability to work cross-functionally and with large teams
- Ability to work well under pressure and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong communication skills to explain complex technical challenges and solutions clearly and concisely

$76,000 – $246,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
