Role description:

We are looking for an experienced Fire Risk Consultant to join our North America Technical Advisory group. This position can be based out of Houston, TX or the southeast region. We are a dynamic team, focused on delivering consultancy solutions to our clients across a wide range of sectors, from industrial facilities, to financial, residential, and many others in between. Often, we will be working with other Arcadis teams undertaking asset or commercial due diligence, both in North America and internationally. The pace will be fast and the environment dynamic and you have the support of senior colleagues and the People First approach of the Arcadis culture.

As a Fire Risk Consultant, you will work directly with Arcadis’ clients, project managers, and Arcadis colleagues. This role will require leading projects and teams for execution of fire permitting projects for warehouses and other retail settings. While this role will not require project sales, the position will be client facing and will allow for the opportunity to engage in client development in the future. You will be responsible for client communications, project leadership, and team management and mentoring.

Role accountabilities:

This role will provide fire consulting services for a broad range of public and private sector clients. This is a diverse role with many potential opportunities for advancement as part of a growing team of Technical Advisory consultants. The role will support growth and delivery of the Technical Advisory team by:

  • Undertaking fire risk assessments across a national portfolio of built assets and identification of opportunities for improvement
  • Performing and managing teams which perform High Pile Analysis for retail warehouses
  • Developing and managing teams which develop High Pile Storage Plans for retail warehouses
  • Preparing and managing teams which prepare Hazardous Materials Inventory Statements
  • Interpreting and applying concepts from the International Fire Code and NFPA Codes
  • Team management and collaboration with Advisory, Design and Engineering, and Program Management disciplines across Arcadis North America using experience
  • Regulatory negotiations with various agencies on behalf of clients, as appropriate
  • Alignment with our desire to grow the fire protection engineering practice in North America
  • Support with building relationships with stakeholders in the Arcadis business to develop understanding of the Technical Advisory capability
  • Assisting with the development of sustainability thought leadership within Arcadis, our external profile and also with clients
  • Ability to review work of juniors in the team
  • Assisting with mentoring others to support the growth of the service area
  • Be curious, highly motivated, self-starter with a passion for improving quality of life

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in civil or structural Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience
  • Professional Engineer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) preferred
  • 3 years experience directly related to fire protection permitting projects
  • Experience leading a team on multiple projects
  • Highly organized and able meet scheduled deadlines
  • Ability to travel 10 to 20%
  • Leading and mentoring junior colleagues

The salary range for this position is $70800 – 122130 / year.
