Private Debt Coverage Team
Morgan Stanley’s Private Debt Coverage (“PDC”) team delivers the firm’s products and services to the top alternative asset managers in the private debt space, spanning the full lifecycle of client needs: capital raising, financing, hedging, capital markets, and advisory.
PDC clients invest across several asset classes including corporate directing lending (middle market and broadly syndicated loans), commercial real estate, residential real estate, ABS, CLO, distressed debt, and special situations (among others).
Expanding activity with this set of clients is a key growth vector for Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Securities Group (ISG). Within ISG, PDC is a highly visible, cross-divisional effort comprised of senior coverage leads from Fixed Income Division (FID), Investment Banking Division (IBD), and Global Capital Markets (GCM) and a dedicated team charged with strategic and day-to-day client coverage responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities – ED / VP – Coverage Team Lead
- Client Coverage: become the central point of contact and key advisor for your clients as they navigate Morgan Stanley. Success will be measured through incremental revenue capture in financing, new issue and capital markets, hedging solutions, and advisory products.
- Team Leadership: drive private debt business in coordination with the internal team, including PDC senior coverage and junior support, FID Senior Relationship Management (SRM), Fixed Income Secured Lending (FSL) product leadership, FID product sales, GCM and IBD teams.
- Pipeline Growth and Management: comprehensively develop and implement the full suite of private debt products in partnership with internal product leaders. Show in investment opportunities and support client fundraising efforts. Evaluate missed opportunities as you look to grow the client relationship. Rigorously manage the balance of payments.
- Internal Sponsorship: articulate the opportunity narrative in the immediate and long terms when seeking resource allocation (e.g. firm balance sheet, cap intro services), defining transaction terms, and resolving client issues.
Qualifications:
- 7 years+ experience at a premier financial institution in the private credit, investment banking, securitized products, debt capital markets, or related teams
- Experience covering or working closely with alternative asset managers in a lending, banking/advisory, or fixed income sales capacity
- Familiarity with the private debt product universe
- Proactive, self-motivated, positive, and exhibits strong leadership and management qualities
- Connects with others in a way that fosters trust and creates collaborative relationships
- Self-confident and possesses an ability to maintain composure in difficult situations
- Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills
- Series 7, 63, and 79 licensing or must obtain
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $225,000 and $250,000 per year for Vice President title and between $250,000 and $300,000 per year for Executive Director level, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
