Fleet Engineering Project Administrator

Hop on board at the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) – a major transit agency in one of the fastest-growing regions in the United States! As the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) expands and develops, we need you as our Fleet Engineering Project Administrator.

As the Fleet Engineering Project Administrator, you will:

  • Manage Fleet Engineering projects associated with improvements/modifications to UTA’s rolling stock.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Purchasing, and other Fleet Engineering staff for the procurement and selection of consultants and contractors and managing the scope of work of consultants and contractors’ activities to deliver projects on schedule and within developed budgets.
  • Assist in resolving issues surrounding projects and project closeout.
  • Assist in the development of procedures and bills of materials with responsibilities including technical writing and procurement planning.
  • Lead coordination of activities associated with long range planning, state of good repair, and developing, building, and integrating capital projects into all modes and functions of UTA Services.
  • Administer efforts to integrate UTA service with other transit modes, and with special activities.
  • Coordinate with the Capital Development Department in testing new or refurbished equipment, stations, and signal systems as well as participate in start-up/testing activities.
  • Provide technology support and manages technology related projects for Bus, FrontRunner, TRAX, Streetcar, and MOW staff.
  • Analyze data and studies to improve customers’ experiences and evaluate and analyze data to initiate and complete projects that may improve the customer experience.
  • Act as a liaison between the UTA business units and internal stakeholders with projects or requests that will interface with riders such as internal announcements, platform announcements, and temporary or permanent signage on rail platforms, stations, park and rides, or trains.
  • Fleet Engineering Project Administrators may lead, train, mentor, and supervise lower-level staff.

Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/LICENSES

  • Three years in transit design, transit operations, project management, or transit maintenance. Two years project management or project administration experience in a transportation-related discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Urban Planning, Business, or related field with some coursework in project management.
  • Must have a valid Utah driver’s license and be a safe driver with no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years, and no convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the past 10 years.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Understanding and knowledge of principles of public transit operations and maintenance, and project management/delivery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of rail communication, signal priority, and traffic signal interface systems (ATMS and TDX) preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel (Preferred); basic proficiency in PowerPoint (Preferred).
  • Technical Writing; Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Project or other project management software preferred.
  • Organizational skills; Multi-task; Meet deadlines.
  • Interact with employees and public groups at all levels.
  • This job required regular and predictable attendance.

Pay Range: $61,500 or more depending on experience.
