The Next Generation GEO OPIR System program’s Functional Test Assembly Ready For Use Team is seeking a qualified Software Engineer to join their Sunnyvale, California based team.
The OPIR-NGG Functional Test Assembly (FTA) Lab supports Space Vehicle design, development, qualification, and operations. The lab provides a platform for developing, testing, and integrating hardware and software products. The OPIR-NGG FTA uses a combination of flight-like hardware, emulations, software, simulations, and our Tools Factory products to represent a fully-functioning space vehicle on the ground or in orbit.
As a Space Vehicle Lab Certification Software Engineer, you can expect to contribute towards
• The integration of flight equivalent high value hardware and software in the functional lab
• Development of our System Validation Plan to certify readiness of the lab for mission critical events
• Planning, coordinating, code development and communication of software development activities.
• Applying appropriate high rigor standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle.
• Correcting program errors, preparing operating instructions, compiling documentation of program development, analyzing system capabilities.
Within 30 Days we would expect:
• High level understanding of system level requirements
• Understand of how we develop software using GitLab
• Set up your local accounts and development environment with assistance from the team
• Understand Agile roles and responsibilities including interfacing with your Scrum Master and Product Owner
• Integrate into the System Test Scrum Team as a developer
• Understand the System Testing Strategy
Within 60 Days we would expect:
• Owning execution of stories while interfacing with your Scrum Master and Product Owner
• Present completed project at sprint demo’s
• Participate and contribute to JIRA story creation
• Demonstrate the ability to work as a team and individual
Within 90 Days we would expect:
• Make technical contributions towards test script development
• Present your knowledge of the test cases and autonomously create solutions to execute tests
• Be able to stand by your technical decisions during technical and peer reviews.
• Work as a contributing member of the team, by collaborating with other colleagues to find solutions to problems

Basic Qualifications:
• Familiarity with software version control systems
• Knowledge of Python
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming principles
Desired Skills:
• Hardware and Software Integration Experience
• Familiarity with Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
• Familiarity with Git in general or GitLab in particular
• Familiarity with the unit testing and integration testing of software products
• Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: Python, C++, Perl
• Proficiency in operating as a Developer within an Agile Scrum team
• Conduct/oversee testing across product development life cycle and program testing milestones
• Ability and willingness to learn about and develop in multiple programming languages
• Ability to convey topics, ideas, and issues at both a technical and non-technical level
• Demonstrated interpersonal and collaboration skills required in a team environment
• Track record of being a self-starter and strong independent contributor
• Active DoD Secret or DoE L security clearance or higher

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California or New York City is $98,800 – $186,100. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
