Position Title: Food Scientist

- Manages product development projects from conception to commercialization, including conceptualization and prototyping, experimental design, material identification, selection and sourcing, packaging and labeling, and manufacturing processes in accordance with business objectives, customer demand, and regulatory requirements;
- Develops product documents, including specifications, technical information, costing, timelines, and objectives;
- Oversees plant scale tests, directing plant representatives to ensure test criteria are met;
- Optimizes production products to meet operational and sales objectives through coordination with Technical Services, Operations, Engineering, QA, and other departments;
- and Coordinates product presentations in collaboration with Sales and Marketing team for both internal and external customers.
Must have the following skills and experience in order to complete the above-mentioned tasks:
- Food manufacturing operations, equipment, and production facilities;
- Knowledge of food laws and regulations, including nutritional facts development (NLEA), ingredient declarations, and formulation and R&D documentation;
- Application of scientific principles and analytical methodologies to assigned projects and problems with limited direction;
- Using laboratory equipment;
- Utilization of statistical techniques to analyze/present data;
- Food processing technology including: understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamic principles, temperature curves, the effects of temperature and/or time on various substrates and functional ingredients as well as basic understanding of various process equipment and their use (i.e. blancher, dryer, fryer, freezer, etc.);
- Statistical processes including: basic statistical principles on determining mean, standard deviations, regression modeling, conducting and evaluation of statistical tests, and ability to set an experimental design test;
- Strong background in food chemistry, sensory, microbiology, food packaging systems and food engineering;
- Ability to drive continuous improvement and change management initiatives;
- Problem solving skills (scientific method): the systematic observation, measurement, and experimentation and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses;
- and Ability to work with cross-functional teams at multiple levels within the organization.
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Food Science or related field, and at least 3 years of occupational experience as a Food Scientist or similar.
- Option to work from home on a hybrid schedule available.
- Travel is required, 10-15% in North America.
- Salary: $70,200.00-$105,000/year.
