Food Service Roving Assistant
SUMMARY:
Hamilton Community Schools is seeking a part-time Food Service Worker for all schools in the district
LOCATION: All Hamilton Schools
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work at all schools in the district including delivery of meals. Work location may change daily.
- Collection and informing High School Staff of daily lunch counts.
- Helping with the cooking and production of daily meals.
- Washing/preparing fruit and vegetables for service.
- Ordering, preparing, and plating food for our serving lines including breakfast
- Operating a cash register including daily cash out.
- Complete clean-up of serving line and lunch tables when serving is complete.
- Maintaining production records.
- General help in end-of-day clean-up, including dishwashing, sweeping and
mopping of floors.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- 18 years of age and a high school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Michigan Drivers License.
- Willingness to work at various locations in the district.
- Ability to relate well with students, staff, and others in a positive manner
- Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form
- Ability to follow written and oral communication and comprehend instructive materials
- Basic math skills
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to handle more than one task at a time
- Must enjoy working in a team environment
- Ability to pass the food safety certification course every five years
REPORTS TO: Food Service Supervisor
START DATE: 2023-2024 School Year
WEEKLY HOURS: 5.50 hours per day, Monday-Friday (school year)
SALARY RANGE: $14.83/hour (start)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee will be on his/her feet throughout most of the shift. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40+ pounds. Occasionally drive a delivery truck and push delivery carts into buildings.
