Position Summary
Perform basic tree trimming, pruning, topping and removal; assist in digging, balling and burlapping of plants and trees for transplanting and operate powered and non-powered hand tools.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
High school diploma or GED.
One (1) year of general grounds maintenance, forestry or nursery experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a Forestry Worker Certificate, Level I Certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
- Basic forestry related tasks including care of trees and shrubs
- Methods and techniques of tree and shrub transplanting and pruning
- Basic preventive maintenance of light and medium sized trucks
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Perform basic tree and shrub pruning and transplanting
- Perform tree removal and clean-up of the area
- Manually water plants and young trees
- Learn to safely prepare, mix and apply pesticide
- Learn to accurately identify common trees and shrubs
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
