Foster Care Recruiter
Foster Care Recruiter and Retention Coordinator
Part-time: 15 hours a week.
This position is remote with the exception of community events and recruitment. In this role the Foster Care Recruiter is expected to work a minimum of 5 hours a week doing community recruitment out in the community.
Compensation: $15.00 per hour
Position Overview:
The Foster Care Recruiter works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families being served by the National Youth Advocate Program by working closely with the youth and family to provide advocacy and support. This position provides the opportunity to grow the NYAP network of foster parents through recruitment, training, licensing and placement activities. The Foster Parent Recruiter/Trainer is a passionate advocate for youth in foster care as well as a skilled communicator of the need for foster families to open their homes to these youth.

Responsibilities:
The Foster Care Recruiter will perform duties including, but not limited to:
- Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s Mission, Values and Philosophies.
- Conducts public relations activities in communities where NYAP resides on behalf of the foster care program through the media, publications and other initiatives outlined in the state/regional recruitment plan.
- Works to produce flyers, advertising, and informational brochures for use in public relations activities.
- Works directly with community leaders in fostering the mission of the National Youth Advocate Program.
- Works directly with potential foster parents in meeting state pre-service training, requirements.
- Works directly with potential foster parents in assisting them with completing all paper work necessary to become a foster parent with the National Youth Advocate Program regarding the regulations set forth by the appropriate regulatory agencies.
- Works directly with existing foster parents in the re-certification process by helping them maintain their eligibility to serve children as a foster parent with the National Youth Advocate Program.
- Serve as a resource coordinator in helping foster parents seek all training opportunities available to them through the National! Youth Advocate Program and in the community.
- Assist in the placement process an d successful matching of youth and foster parents based on the needs of referred you h and the level of training, strengths and expertise of the foster family.
- Develop and implement an ongoing foster home recruitment plan and submit monthly reports of community actions and response to the appropriate Director or designee.
- Maintain professional boundaries, induct and confidentiality and other governmental laws and regulations, agency policy and licensure ethics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in the behavioral/social sciences.
- 2 years of experience in the area of youth services, preferably with direct experience in the area of child welfare, or foster care recruitment and training.
- A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours in the service of foster caregivers, families of origin, and persons served
- Knowledgeable of foster care rules and the services provided by the National Youth Advocate Program, and have experience working with youth in out-of-home care.
- Must have the ability to speak publicly regarding the mission of the National Youth Advocate Program and most specifically the Foster Care program.
- Current driver’s license, car registration, auto insurance and good driving record.
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
