6:30am- 3:00pm Monday-Friday

This position is located in Edmond/North OKC

The Furnace Operator is responsible for safely running the continuous caster. This includes daily safety checks, feeding raw material into the machine, monitoring the output of the caster, and continually monitoring the unit for leaks. This operation requires the employee to constantly lift 70lb raw material ingots and be exposed to high temperatures, the operator will also be required to wear heat reflective Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the duration of the shift.

A Day in the Life of a Furnace Operator:

  • Monitor equipment to ensure that it is in good working order and that production goals are being met
  • Monitor furnace operations to make sure that temperatures are within safe limits and adjust controls as needed
  • Monitor the quality of raw materials entering the furnace to ensure they meet standards for chemical composition and physical properties such as density and particle size distribution
  • Maintain records of all heating cycles performed, including temperature and time settings, to ensure accurate data is available for future reference
  • Perform regular maintenance on furnaces or other equipment used in the production process to ensure that they continue to operate efficiently
  • Monitor the amount of raw material entering the furnace to ensure that it does not exceed the maximum capacity and minimum capacity levels set by the manufacturer
  • Monitor for product finish quality
  • Other duties as necessary

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a production environment is preferred
  • Experience operating a furnace or operating similar machinery is preferred

Computer Skills: Basic use of Microsoft Office preferred

Other beneficial qualifications:

  • Comfortable working with machines that are potentially dangerous if operated incorrectly
  • Comfortable working consistently in high temperatures
  • Comfortable working in loud environments
  • Knowledge of safe workplace practices in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Requires strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or on a team
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges
  • Knowledge of forklift operation and safety a plus
