Position Summary
Program Manager will support and work with the Senior Program Director to lead and coordinate program activities under a joint initiative between Milliman Inc. and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to build actuarial expertise in developing countries, helping predict and prepare for risks in these uncertain times. The UNDP-Milliman Global Actuarial Initiative, announced as part of the 77th United Nations General Assembly, will seek to enable insurers, pension funds and social security administrations to better manage risks and in turn offer innovative and affordable insurance solutions for all. The MicroInsurance Centre at Milliman (MIC@M) will drive the initiative from Milliman, and the position will reside in the MIC@M.
The Program Manager will participate directly in program activities in selected countries, and will support efforts to assign, direct and coordinate activities of multiple Milliman employees engaged in the initiative on a temporary and/or part-time basis. This individual will be critical in connecting efforts of different teams, connecting to multiple stakeholders, and bringing forward the collective knowledge and experience of the initiative to new efforts in different countries.
This programme aims to enhance global sustainable development through the expansion of actuarial profession and expertise in the developing world by:
- Building actuarial capacity and expertise of local actuarial professionals.
- Enhancing data availability through regulators and the insurance industry.
- Supporting countries in adapting with more resilient risk management as part of the climate change impact.
- Supporting advocacy to governments, insurers, and others in achieving programme goals.

Skills and Qualifications Required
- Fully experienced in Milliman administration and its policies and procedures(Internal Applicants Only)
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- Work experience in developing countries
- Experience managing multiple projects
- Project management experience (preferably in development / non-profit work or consulting)
Skills and Qualifications Preferred
- Experience working in an insurance-related environment
- Degree in a relevant field (economics, international relations, international development, business, project management, or finance)
- Strong communication skills with marketing / communication work experience
- Experience managing stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a multitude of stakeholders and teams/departments
- Confidence in presenting to and training groups
- Experience with project management tools and processes
- Working proficiency in Spanish and / or French
Location
- MIC@M team is centered in Appleton, Wisconsin
- Position may be placed in Appleton, or in one of many Milliman locations, with the option of hybrid work
- Flexible to work with different time-zones and willingness to participate in conference calls before or after normal business hours to accommodate business hours in a different country
- Willing and able to travel internationally as requested
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $95,000 to $155,000, depending on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc. This role is based out of the Milliman office in Appleton, Wisconsin, but candidates hired into this role may work remotely anywhere in the US.
