Job Description

Investment Banking Division works on some of the most complex financial challenges and transactions in the market today. Whether advising on a merger, providing financial solutions for an acquisition, or structuring an initial public offering, we handle projects that help clients at major milestones. We work with corporations, pension funds, financial sponsors, and governments and are team of strong analytical thinkers, who have a passion for producing out-of-the-box ideas

Team Overview:

Activism and Raid Defense have been cornerstones of Goldman Sachs’ leading M&A franchise for more than two decades. The Activism and Shareholder Advisory (“ASA”) team within M&A is responsible for helping clients stay ahead of and respond to challenges from shareholder activists and hostile raiders. In this capacity, ASA develops and maintains Goldman Sachs’ thought leadership on shareholder engagement and corporate governance, particularly in the context of defense. The ASA team works jointly with Classic and product coverage teams to provide strategic advice to our clients on their potential vulnerability to activism or an unsolicited approach, corporate governance issues, live activism defense or hostile situations, and contested M&A situations.

Selected Key Practice Areas:

  • Analyzing and interpreting potential vulnerabilities
  • Advising on the likeliest actions of activists and defensive best practices
  • Leading shareholder activism defenses, including proxy fights, as well as raid defenses
  • Modeling and interpreting likely shareholder behavior in contested situations

Additional Information:

  • Collaborative team with exposure to senior bankers across the firm
  • Small team provides junior bankers the opportunity to work directly with senior bankers
  • Analysts work across all industries and gain broad exposure to Goldman Sachs client base
  • Core client audience consists of most senior management (C-Suite) and Board of Directors

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $110000-$125000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
