Job Description:
The M&A Capital Markets (“MACM”) team is responsible for differentiating the firm’s M&A franchise by providing solutions to clients on unique or complex merger matters. MACM is an integral part of the M&A advisory business, and provides clients with capital markets insights and judgments on all aspects of strategic transactions, ranging from the structuring of merger consideration to the interpretation of complex trading patterns.
MACM is looking for a new hire to join the team as an Analyst. The position is a rewarding experience, providing an excellent foundation for a career in M&A, with the opportunity to build a deep understanding of the merger business from pitch, to negotiation, to execution, as well as the ability to have an immediate impact on high-profile merger transactions.
Responsibilities:
This individual will help senior bankers across Investment Banking advise clients on a diverse set of merger-related matters. He or she will be responsible for monitoring the broader market and deal environment, helping more senior members of the team to architect structured deal solutions (such as M&A collars and cash-stock elections), preparing and presenting analysis of shareholders, and predicting and interpreting technical trading around strategic transactions. This individual will also help build out and maintain our thought leadership to ensure that the broader division has the full benefit of MACM’s extensive understanding of complex merger topics.
Amongst other things, this individual will be responsible for:
- Maintaining the group’s various databases
- Leveraging merger and ownership data to create differentiated analysis and perspectives on the merger markets for use in marketing and advisory
- Using statistical analysis to identify trading patterns related to mergers and other corporate events, including merger arbitrage, holding company discounts, and index fund trading
- Interpreting investor sentiment around transaction risks by synthesizing market feedback, stock performance and third party commentary
- Analyzing the financial and capital markets impact of novel transaction structures designed by senior team members
- Providing real-time judgments and insight into trading dynamics for use with clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with confidence to interact with clients and senior leaders within the firm
- Exceptional quantitative and technical skills, ideally with experience in statistics or computer science
- Basic understanding of company valuation concepts (comparable multiples, DCF, LBO, etc.)
- Keen interest in global markets and macroeconomic environment
- Effective project management skills with ability to prioritize competing projects and deadlines
- Intellectual curiosity and creativity, with a demonstrated interest in learning about M&A
- Self-starting, proactive person who demonstrates initiative, ownership and leadership
- Ability to work under deadlines and on real-time developing situations
- Drive, enthusiasm and solid work ethic

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $110000-$125000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
