APPOINTMENT TYPE: Full-Time Temporary (FTT)
LOCATION: Oak Ridge, TN or Hybrid
SALARY RANGE: $21.80 to $30.33 an hour
PURPOSE:
Performs a variety of administrative functions to support best practices for outreach and recruiting for Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Workforce Development (ORISE STEM WD) research participation programs. Assists with outreach, engagement, and communication activities and resources. Interact with sponsors, mentors, applicants, participants, alumni, colleges and universities, professional organizations, and the public.
Responsibilities
- Serves as technical lead and oversees coordination of the ORISE Participant Experience Team (OPET) recruiting. Ensures appropriate and effective use of outreach materials. Makes recommendations to improve consistency, efficiency, quality, and accuracy. Communicates with program staff, mentors, and sponsors to gather information and assist as needed.
- Coordinates ordering, receipts, and distribution of outreach materials. Maintains inventory of outreach storage room. Coordinates shipping of materials as needed. Assists programs in identifying needs and delivery methods.
- Assists in the delivery of communication and Listserv announcements and email campaigns. Conducts communication and outreach activities, including job boards, Handshake, LinkedIn Recruiter, (compensatory reserve measurement) CRMs, social media, and other commercial services including content data creation and sourcing for outreach purposes. Identifies new and provides updates to contact lists and develops recruiting and outreach efforts for STEM WD opportunities, including niche, targeted, underrepresented populations, and hard-to-fill.
- Assists in creating communication, engagement, and outreach materials (websites, videos, print and social media) for internal and external use including design, development, and reporting. Creates, formats, edits, and proofreads correspondence, program literature, announcements, presentations, and reports. Makes recommendations to improve consistency, efficiency, quality, and accuracy.
- Represents ORISE STEM WD and supports activities related to outreach and ORISE community events, both in person and virtual, including interacting with potential applicants, participants, alumni, mentors, sponsors, and staff. Participates in outreach informational sessions, career fairs, and presentations, etc. Serves on teams and committees, and on special projects.
- Provides content support for STEM WD websites, social media, and SharePoint sites. Assists with technology solutions for outreach events. Assists with development and management of surveys, and development of electronic forms.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, Scientific, Technical, Education, Communication, Engineering, Mathematics or related field and 0-2 years of job-related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
- Must be experienced or ability to quickly achieve competency in Zintellect, Handshake, LinkedIn, and other outreach tools.
- Must be self-directed, capable of processing and prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with an ability to be flexible and adaptable, and able to handle a large and varied workload with minimum supervision.
- Must demonstrate problem-solving skills, the ability to gather information and provide recommendations, and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Must be able to deal effectively and tactfully with a variety of people at various academic levels, and professional and cultural backgrounds.
- Must be able to communicate information clearly, be goal-oriented and service-focused with a desire to exceed expectations.
- Must have advanced knowledge of the ORISE STEM WD programs and the Zintellect application and participant tracking tool; specific opportunity posting requirements; program application, sponsor review and selection procedures for all types of participants.
*The candidate’s starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate’s qualifications to determine salary.
