Job Description

The Finance Manager of General Accounting Revenue is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the general accounting shared services related to the revenue side of the business. The job requires strong leadership skills to manage the accounting process and oversee compliance to the Company’s policies to ensure accurate reporting of the Company’s financial statements. The position leads a department of two direct report teammates, including the accounting supervisor and one staff accountant and works with an offshore team located in India to complete many of the accounting functions.

**Compensation: The salary range for this role is $90,000- $120,000. Pay will be determined based on experience level.**

Essential Functions:

  • Directly supervises two teammates in the general accounting revenue.
  • Work with the Cognizant offshore accounting team located in India who completes several accounting tasks for the department.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training teammates, planning, assigning, and directing work, reconciliations, variance review, journal entries, and financial reporting for direct reports. Additionally, directing and approving work performed by the offshore team.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process and prepare/review journal entries in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review assigned variances above Company’s thresholds and identify and correct any misstatements and/or document root cause of variances.
  • Work closely with upper management in multiple departments to ensure accurate reporting of department expenses and revenues.
  • Review several account reconciliations and ensure all variances are identified, researched, and resolved timely, this includes the Companies credit card reconciliation.
  • Review key financial reports used by accounting, upper management, and external reporting.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years accounting or related experience. Supervisory experience, public accounting experience and CPA preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proven understanding and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Carry out research on intricate and complex accounting matters to develop a fact-based conclusion to ensure suitable application of authoritative accounting guidance, including drafting relevant technical accounting memos to support these conclusions
  • Present issues, options, and recommendations to upper management through research of technical accounting literature, perform an evaluation of new accounting standards’ impact to the company’s financial statements to include working with other areas of the organization to understand current accounting practices to determine and conclude how new accounting standards will impact processes and procedures, as well as ensure controls over financial reporting are redesigned as necessary
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet established deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills and attentive to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Team orientated approach to tasks and problem solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel) with the ability to learn new and existing company specific software applications
  • Ability to manage large sets of data and complex spreadsheets
  • Ability to take initiative in identifying problems, collecting data, and establishing facts in order to produce practical decisions and solutions.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and fax machines. Position requires prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer.
