Performs and provides patient oriented support and duties to assist the clinical staff and providers in performing their duties and carrying out the necessary functions required in accordance with established policies and procedures and under the direct supervision of the General Clinic Program Manager.
Provide Quality Public Services through direct patient care and education.
- Provide services to assigned percentage of encounters based on staffing availability.
- Accurately enter the minimal required information on the pharmacy log as documented in charts and KIPHS as evident through monthly pharmacy audit.
- Schedule screening or diagnostic test per MLP order(s) and record required data in assigned monitor log(s).
Assure Quality Public Services by providing excellent customer services and accurate data documentation.
- Complete required program data collection forms (DAISEYs) by the end of business day.
- Obtain, review, and document clients’ medical/health history, consent(s), vital signs, lab specimen(s) and other required information in appropriate forms per program policy and protocol.
Support SC and DOH strategic plans by ensure success of programs’ goals and objectives are met.
- Support clinic program by working with team members to ensure that programs’ goals and objectives are met.
- Timely correction of audit errors.
- Participate in at least one QI project per year.
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED, Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited program/school. Minimum of one year professional experience in Medical Assistant or related medical field and successfully completed the medical assistant board certification exam. Certified by American Medical Technologists or American Association of Medical Assistants. Current CPR certification. Participate in the TB screening program that includes baseline screening for M. tuberculosis infection within 10 days of employment. Participate in the Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan that includes training, proof of hepatitis B immunity or vaccine, or vaccine series started within 10 days of employment. Utilize Universal Precautions in performance of job and when transporting blood and urine specimens from point of collection to point of testing; provide proof of MMR, varicella, Tdap vaccinations, or immunity within 10 days of employment start date or within 10 days of start of employee health insurance. All employees may be required to wear respirators in emergency situations and for routine operations as requested. Employees will be enrolled in the respiratory protection program, which may include an annual fit testing and medical evaluation. This is a Tier 1 position; identified as personnel who, in the event of a public health emergency, will not be working within the emergency operations center or will not be sent out to the field as responders. Tier 1 staff complete courses IS 100 and 700 within thirty days of employment. Additional ICS trainings may be required. Bilingual individuals in English and a non-English language may take a fluency test in the non-English language. To ensure the competence of individuals providing language assistance at the Division of Health, only those who pass the test may use their non-English language with clients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). After hire, a bilingual employee who has passed the fluency test may agree to take a medical interpreter skills test to interpret between a client with LEP and an English-speaking employee.
