Job Duties
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has an exciting new opportunity for a General Maintenance and Repair Technician as an addition to our Building and Grounds department. This position will be responsible for the general upkeep of museum property and its office building which includes but is not limited to installation, repair, and/or maintenance of doors, locks, walls, and other structures as appropriate. The General Maintenance and Repair Technician will also be responsible for painting, light construction, assembly of furniture or other items, as well as hanging boards/other items and may also assist the Electrical department with exhibition installations and general electrical maintenance as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate must have prior experience in construction and/or building
maintenance as well as technical training appropriate to trades background. A
demonstrated history of experience and knowledge of general construction industry
practices regarding drywall, painting, and the mechanics of doors/locks, etc is also
required. He/she must be able to work from architectural drawings and/or verbal
direction as they relate to construction projects as well as lift up to 50 pounds, perform
frequent standing, pushing/pulling, walking, reaching, bending, climbing, and other
repetitive motions with or without reasonable accommodation. Candidate will be able to
effectively and safely use hand/power tools as well as possess knowledge of general
electrical methods, and/or procedures.
Additional Considerations
High school graduate preferred.
