General Maintenance Worker – Groundskeeping

PCSI is looking for a General Maintenance Worker/Groundskeeper for our corporate office! The General Maintenance Worker is mainly responsible for the upkeep of the grounds surrounding PCSI’s main office building – mowing, trimming, raking, clearing outdoor walkways – and maintenance of landscaping equipment. This position also assists the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor with a variety of minor building maintenance tasks, relocating furniture, and other similar tasks as needed.

This position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor and is based in south Austin, TX. Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

Benefits Include:

  • Base pay of $16.00-19.00 depending upon experience.
  • Annual bonus of up to 6%.

What You’ll Do as a General Maintenance Worker:

  • Perform grounds maintenance work to include but not limited to mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, de-icing walkways, ice/snow removal and the maintenance of applicable equipment and machinery.
  • Operate hand or power tools and equipment such as: lawn mowers, shovels, rakes, trimmers, and other machinery.
  • Spreading gravel, asphalt, and other materials over surfaces.
  • Performs a variety of general building maintenance functions in a variety of skilled and semi-skilled craft trades.
  • Assists in the accomplishment of minor building maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in the planning, layout and completion of modifications and repairs
  • Perform miscellaneous functions such as relocating furniture and computers.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Prefer recent/relevant experience and/or a combination of formal vocational and/or technical training and experience.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and speed in work.
  • Use of power and hand tools, grounds maintenance equipment and other tools/resources relevant to trades.
  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • May need to have the ability to legally drive a company vehicle and be insured as an authorized driver for the company.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong time management skills with ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and handle multiple priorities.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both with minimal supervision and as a team player at the same time.
  • Ability to make independent decisions as needed to complete work orders.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather as needed and be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors.
  • Ability to respond to after-hour emergency calls as determined by the Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor or other management.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. ten to twenty times a day.
  • Ability to push objects up to 100 pounds, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Squatting and bending – Bending the body downward and forward by bending at the knees.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs.
  • Ability to move about the facilities approximately 90% of the time during working hours.
