The General Wine Technician participates in all support tasks of the winemaking process as well as the care, maintenance, and sanitation of all winery equipment and facilities. Duties include using company systems to track winery work, quality, and sanitation, and engage in data entry. Required to adhere to all safety procedures, support quality and GMP standards.

Compensation:

  • Hiring rate listed at $21.84/hr – $21.84/hr
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

What You Will Do:

  • Supports the operation of winery equipment in bottling and the cellar (bottling machines, pumps, presses, etc.).
  • Performs sanitation tasks such as tank washing, pressure washing, and line and equipment sanitation.
  • Ensures all additions to product are made accurately, per the work orders.
  • Preforms product movement activities.
  • Supports set-up, completion of task, and sanitation activities as it relates to process piping, tanks, and all winery equipment.
  • Supports the operation of complex cellar and bottling equipment (i.e. filtration equipment, CIP systems, etc.).
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Required to travel and work at assigned job sites and wineries.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations.

Essential Functions Standard

What You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or State issued-equivalency certificate required OR 1 year of workexperience.
  • Required to roll and move 70 pound wine barrels and lift product and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Required to wear a respirator when necessary.
  • Required to obtain forklift certification onsite.
  • Required to work a rotating shift/schedule throughout the year (day, swing, graveyard, 5×8, 4×10); required to work weekends and overtime when necessary.
  • Required to stand for the duration of shift (8-12 hours excluding breaks and lunch).
  • Required to travel and work at assigned job sites and wineries.
  • Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers and units of measure (inches, feet, meters, etc.).
  • Required to work at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • High school diploma or State issued-equivalency certificate required plus 1 year of wine production or consumer product goods manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of beverage manufacturing as it relates to liquid processing and machine operation.
  • Basic knowledge of shipping and receiving (logistics) including associated computer systems.
  • Familiar with sanitation activities as it relates to food processing/handling.
  • Experience showing versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
  • Experience in using a computer.
  • Experience being a team player.
