Genome Design Data Scientist – Remote

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Genome Design Data Scientist, are to:

  • Foster new game changing ideas to produce sophisticated, intelligent optimization solutions and predictive models;
  • Work on a team as an individual contributor with other Genome Design Data Scientists;
  • Demonstrate autonomy in building relationships and networks within the current function, may require guidance to expand networks cross functionally, and interact most often with Data Scientists within the organization and peer business partners;
  • Act as an active member in the Data Science community to build personal acumen and ability while sharing best practices with others;
  • Collaborate and acquire support from cross functional scientific, engineering and IT teams;
  • Provide technical contributions in a fast paced team environment to accelerate our efforts in building a future proof product pipeline;
  • Independently perform statistical analysis, computer programming, predictive modeling and experimental design;
  • Use advanced mathematical models, machine learning algorithms, operations research techniques, and strong business acumen to deliver insight, recommendations and solutions;
  • Develop sustainable, consumable, accurate, and impactful reporting on model inputs, model outputs, observed outputs, business impact and key performance indicators;
  • Conduct routine literature research on cutting edge data science and genomics topics and bring ideas and implement improvements to our existing projects.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our life values, more specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with 2 years of industrial experience or a Ph.D. (graduating Ph.D. student in their last year would also be considered);
  • Educational preparation or applied experience in at least one of the following areas: Genomics, Computational Biology, Machine Learning, Operation Research, Statistical Genetics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or another related quantitative discipline;
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computational skills and level of experience building data models using Python, R, or other statistical and mathematical programming packages;
  • Strong domain knowledge and understanding of genomics, comparative genomics, pan genomics, and other cutting edge genomic technics;
  • Proficiency in machine learning algorithms and concepts is strongly desired;
  • Experience in successfully delivering valuable analysis through domain knowledge and effective collaborations;
  • Strong communication competencies to include presentations and delivery of complex quantitative analyses in a clear, concise, and action able manner to the extended team and small groups of key stakeholder.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $100,800 to $151,258. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
