Position Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering has an immediate opening for a Fluvial Geomorphologist in our growing Geotechnical Group. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail/transit and systems, and materials disciplines and is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects in Washington and beyond.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering Group’s Design Build Management Team are attracting clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects to manage their multi-disciplined design teams to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-driven engineers analyze root causes and resolve design issues before they impact schedule and budget. Given the inherent size and risk profile of large design build projects, clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout North America. Location
This position is to be based out of our upcoming Bellevue, WA office. May be eligible for relocation assistance if home base is 50 miles from office and/or an hour plus of commuting time.
Responsibilities
- Leading/guiding stream restoration or fish passage correction projects in Western Washington
- Assessing channel stability and watershed conditions, including producing hydraulics basis of design reports, floodplain analyses, channel migration analyses, sediment transport studies, etc.
- Applying Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) design standards and Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) guidelines
- Overseeing and guiding Preliminary Hydraulic Design (PHD) and Final Hydraulic Design (FHD) documentation for WSDOT fish passage projects
- Guiding stream restoration or fish passage correction projects which includes, site assessment, watershed assessment, streambed design, habitat features and scour analysis
- Supporting preparation of Design-Build contracts for WSDOT Facilitates and engages in project delivery at all levels as needed
- Developing stream restoration and enhancement recommendations
- Foster team performance and value delivered to the client
- Providing technical guidance to staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological Sciences, Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of assessing channel stability and watershed conditions, including producing hydraulics basis of design reports, floodplain analyses, channel migration analyses, sediment transport studies, etc.
- Familiarity with WSDOT design standards and WDFW guidelines is required
- Licensed Engineer or Geologist in the State of Washington or ability to obtain license within 6 months
- Must have design and construction experience with stream restoration including geomorphic stream assessments, stream grading, step-pool design and construction, LWM placement and bank stabilization design
- Travel <25% expected

Base Compensation: $92,091 – $138,137
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
