SummaryWorking with the SVP, ESG + Sustainability, the Global Lead, Climate Action, Sustainability will support the continued development of the firm’s sustainability strategy and will work closely with all functional areas of the company and actively engage and support our portfolio companies on the implementation of environmental sustainability initiatives, with a focus on the data center business.

You will lead strategy development aligned with sustainability risks and opportunities, policy/regulatory analysis and monitoring, peer benchmarking, and action planning around core sustainability topics such as climate change/GHG emission reduction, renewable energy, and circular economy. In addition, you will partner with senior level executives to skillfully develop strategy and plans that will grow the corporate sustainability strategy for the data center business, and have positive business impacts. Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise on Climate Action for the datacenter business as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Establish objectives and milestones to achieve short and long-term goals
  • Embed our strategy within the functional areas of the business and work across key functions to develop environmental sustainability content
  • Stay abreast of emerging environmental sustainability topics and develop initiatives to address the latest policy, regulatory and industry trends
  • Ensure efficient and timely communication with portfolio companies, investors, advisers, and senior management
  • Proactively assist in building the company’s environmental sustainability brand/profile through online presence, industry events and thought leadership activities
  • Partner with design, engineering, and supply/procurement teams to strategize on Climate Action opportunities (carbon, energy, waste, water efficiency), within material selection and product innovation, product portfolio, supplier operations, etc.
  • Lead ongoing improvement in environmental sustainability disclosures, rankings and ratings, and responses to environmental sustainability inquiries
  • Strategic development of processes and systems to measure and track progress for all vertical sustainability goals through key KPIs and supporting business metrics.
  • Serve as day-to-day partner for sustainability matters, questions, or concerns across the vertical business
  • Drive vision and help teams remove barriers through development of innovative approaches or strategies

Skills & Experience

ESSSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Direct climate action experience and knowledge (e.g., GHG emissions inventories (including Scope 3), Net Zero/science-based target setting, emissions reduction planning, and scenario analysis, TCFD, CDP, and emerging regulatory trends)
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency opportunities and measurement, monitoring, reporting, and reduction of environmental impacts (such as embodied carbon) in large-scale infrastructure or real estate projects
  • Strong analytical skills, structured mindset
  • Ability to contribute to a positive culture that champions partnership, creativity, and innovation while driving accountability to results

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-year degree in civil or environmental engineering, geology, or an environmental/earth science discipline or equivalent experience in relevant field (e.g. geoscience, earth system science, climate science, environmental science & policy, civil and environmental engineering, hydrology, ecology, atmospheric chemistry, urban planning)
  • Demonstrated project management responsibilities.
  • Direct climate change-related experience (e.g., GHG emissions inventories)
  • Preference is given to candidates who have worked directly on large-scale infrastructure or real estate projects
  • Professional experience driving sustainability integration and reporting, and initiatives that tie to strategic business objectives.
  • Practical and innovative leader with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and results
  • Deep knowledge of Climate Action practices and trends. Experience with relevant standards and frameworks

  • Creative thinker with a strong interest in executing new strategies to drive increasing value to our customers, partners, suppliers, investors and employees
  • Exceptional presentation skills with experience working with senior executives
  • Possess executive presence and interpersonal skills that enable you to build relationships internally and externally
