POSITION SUMMARY
Performs periodic maintenance and repair of golf carts, turf, and driving range equipment. Diagnoses problems and keeps all equipment in efficient operating condition. Orders supplies and parts. Maintains shop records.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs equipment repair and maintenance. Develops and maintains maintenance schedules.
Instructs equipment operators on proper use and preventative maintenance procedures and follows CIRSA requirements. Maintains high level safety standards on equipment and in the shop area. Administers training programs for safe equipment operation.
Maintains records of preventative maintenance repairs and parts used for repairs.
Will be required to work weekends/holidays throughout the year.
Supervises and trains seasonal staff and weekend/holiday maintenance staff.
Manages various emergency situations pertaining to: injury/accident, illness, weather, fire, irrigation and equipment.
Orders, receives, and maintains a sufficient inventory of parts and supplies. Compares vendors and their products based on specifications, price quotes and quality. Coordinates the purchase of items to ensure necessary stock is on hand.
Processes and shelves inventory items in a logical and safe order. Routes special orders and accompanying paperwork to the proper personnel.
Assists supervisor with the development of the division’s budget by recommending equipment, tool and supply purchases, and forecasting repair and maintenance expenditures.
Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in various golf course equipment engines.
Troubleshoots and performs general overhaul of motors, repairs transmissions, clutches, carburetors, universal joints, and hydraulic systems. Determines the source of failures and makes necessary repairs of brakes, batteries and wiring. Balances, repairs and changes tires.
Pinpoints and repairs fuel system problems for carbureted vehicles.
Recommends changes to improve golfing satisfaction.
Sharpens, grinds and backlaps mowing equipment. Installs and/or builds special equipment or attachments.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
Stays current on technological changes for all equipment repaired and used in the day-to-day operations of the maintenance facility.
Manages various emergency situations regarding equipment breakdowns, accidents, fire, etc. Makes emergency call-out and road calls for golf course equipment.
Identifies suspension problems and failures, performs front end repairs, rebuilds manual and power assisted steering gears, and aligns front ends.
Installs auxiliary light systems and diagnoses electrical instrument and lighting systems failures.
Diagnoses and repairs ignition problems using diagnostic equipment.
Orders gasoline for equipment and carts as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned and required.
PREPARATION AND TRAINING
Education: Graduation from Trade School in related field
Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a golf course equipment mechanic or related field.
Certifications and/or Licensures: None
Required Driver’s License: Valid Colorado driver’s license and a clear or acceptable MVR
An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant job experience may be substituted.

Computer Skills – Basic computer skills required for input and retrieval of data.
Communication Skills – Basic communication skills required to be able to work with the public, management staff, and co-workers. Advanced guest services skills required to interact with the public and address questions and complaints.
Analytical Skills– Advanced analytical skills required to diagnose mechanical problems related to golf course equipment.
Mechanical Skills – Advanced mechanical skills required to perform a variety of equipment maintenance and automotive repairs.
Must be able to operate golf course equipment.
Must be able to work independently.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed primarily outside on the grounds of the golf course. Works near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes, airborne particles and various chemicals, some of which may be toxic. The employee is exposed to various weather conditions including wet, hot and cold conditions.
SALARY RANGE
$21.07 – $31.61/hour
$43,834 – $65,751/annual
