SPECIAL NOTES:
A bachelor’s degree in risk management and insurance or other bachelor’s degree requiring proficiency in analysis, reading comprehension, and writing is preferred.
Additional preferences will be given to applicants with experience in the following areas.
- One (1) or more years job-related experience in insurance.
- Successful completion of coursework pertaining to insurance.
- Experience in the analysis of written documentation or other data.
- Experience in writing reports, memoranda, business letters or other forms of written communication.
- Experience in the analysis of property and casualty insurance contracts through coursework or current/previous employment.
Qualified applicants will be required to take a work sample.
The scheduled work hours for this position are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of property and casualty insurance products.
- Ability to analyze insurance contracts and identify and describe scope of coverage.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and apply statutes and administrative rules.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Word or comparable word processing software.
- Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices.
- Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.
- Ability to conduct fact-finding research.
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This is an advanced level position which independently performs the following duties under limited supervision:
- Analyze property and casualty insurance forms and other filings which are submitted for review by insurers or other licensed organizations to ensure compliance with insurance laws and regulations in Florida. Confer with representatives of insurers or other licensed organizations through concise, written correspondence, telephone conference, or personal conference to clarify or substantiate where additional information is needed to approve, disapprove, or withdraw filings. Conduct comprehensive research of insurance-related topics and prepare thorough, concise, written reports as directed.
- Keep abreast of changes to law or regulations affecting insurance, and respond to requests for technical assistance regarding consumer inquiries. Provide assistance to insurers and other licensed organizations seeking information regarding the regulation of insurance products and operations in Florida. Provide management consulting services and assistance to unit staff, insurance industry representatives, and Office personnel regarding regulatory matters based upon well-established and accepted practices, theories, techniques, and methodology. Participate in and assist with job related training.
- Prepare reports recording the results of systems work performed, including technical writings such as operations manuals, procedures guides, or operator instructions required for systems operations, as well as project reporting. Assist in identifying areas of potential improvement by use of interview with Division staff, consultants, and project managers. Plan, organize, manage, and perform investigations, internal audits, internal management reviews, and consultation engagements within the Property and Casualty Product Review Unit. Provide assistance to agency officials and their staffs to promote the most efficient and effective accomplishment of the operating objectives at the lowest cost.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor, the Director, his/her designee, or upper management.
